> Hepatitis
The American Liver Foundation (ALF), a member charity of Community
Health Charities, provides information about liver disease, resources
and emotional support to patients, family members and caregivers. As the
principal source of print materials and online resources for liver
disease, ALF understands that education is key to building awareness.
In honor of Hepatitis Awareness Month, Community Health Charities
wants you to know the health risks associated with a communicable
disease like hepatitis. Hepatitis may occur with limited or no symptoms,
but often leads to jaundice, anorexia (poor appetite) and malaise.
Hepatitis is considered acute when it lasts less than six months, and
chronic when it persists longer.
